Silfra sits right between the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates. It boasts some of the clearest and purest water in the world, with visibility reaching up to 100 meters. The fissure actually pulls apart by a few centimeters every year, so you’re swimming through a crack that is actively growing wider and splitting Iceland in two!

Important information
- Participants must be physically fit, able to swim, and comfortable in water.
- Size and weight requirements: minimum 145 cm / 45 kg, maximum 200 cm / 120 kg.
- Pregnant participants are not recommended to join due to cold water temperatures.
- Glasses cannot be worn. Please bring a prescription mask if needed, or wear contact lenses.
- You must read and sign the Silfra Snorkeling Medical Statement and a liability release form before the tour.
- Please bring swimwear and a towel (for the wetsuit), warm socks (wool, extra pairs), warm clothes to put on before and after, and a camera.
