An unregistered driverOnly listed drivers are covered. If someone gets behind the wheel, the insurance is void, and you’re fully responsible.
Illegal off-road drivingBeaches, unmarked paths, trackless areas, or any driving off marked roads is illegal in Iceland and implies hefty fines.
F-Roads with no approved 4x4This includes named routes like Kjölur (35), Kaldidalur (550), and Sprengisandur (26), unless approved by Blue Car Rental for that use.
Closed roadsDriving on a closed road voids your insurance, no matter the reason. Road closures are published on umferdin.is
Reckless drivingGross negligence, driving under the influence, racing, test driving, river crossing and any intentional act are not covered.
Other damagesDamage caused by animals, using the wrong fuel, or any unreported damage is not covered.

A perfect car rental experience from start to finish. Both pick-up and drop-off were incredibly fast and convenient. When I first received the car, I was slightly disappointed by a few minor cosmetic imperfections, but they had absolutely no impact on its performance. The Toyota RAV4 gave me an amazing Ring Road experience — it handled nearly all of Iceland’s terrain with ease. Although I ran into a small issue during the trip, Blue resolved it very quickly. An absolutely full-mark experience.

We recently finished a trip around Southern Iceland and rented a car with Blue Car Rentals. We were able to pick up the car at the airport and drop it off in Reykjavik. The staff at both locations were very nice, spoke good English, and offered nice insight on the area. We rented a Kia Sportage and the car got very good gas milage and suited us well for the trip. The walk from the airport to the Blue building was not bad on a sunny day in June, but if you are picking up a car in colder or bad weather, the walk might not be the most enjoyable.

Only positive impressions. Very easy communication and last minute changes due to Lufthansa strike. Quick pick up outside of working hours. I originally booked a Dacia Jogger for 6 people but got a free upgrade to a Kia Sorento instead. Great car and a great time in Iceland. Highly recommended!

The experience with Blue Car Rental was very easy and seamless. From the self check in to the drop off everything was easy and fast. Definitely would recommend this company and would rent with them again when I’m coming back!
